01Policy scope

About this notice

This Privacy Policy applies to Docu Reader - PDF Reader (the “App”). The App helps users locate, categorize, open, review, and manage supported document files stored on an Android device.

This notice covers processing performed by the App and its integrated service providers. It does not cover the independent practices of other apps or services that may open a file outside Docu Reader.

02On-device records

Documents and file information

With your permission, the App scans shared device storage to locate supported files, including PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TXT, and image files. It may process file names, file types, sizes, storage paths, modification dates, and recent-open history so that files can be categorized, searched, displayed, and reopened.

Your document content is used to provide reading and file-management features. The product requirements do not include cloud document backup or uploading document content to our servers.

If you delete a file through the App, the file may be removed or moved to the device’s trash, depending on the Android version and storage provider. This action can affect the original file stored on your device.

03SDK information

Technical, advertising, and usage data

The App and its service providers may process app events, device model, operating-system version, app version, language, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, device or advertising identifiers, crash details, diagnostics, ad impressions, ad interactions, and install-attribution information.

When you email support, we process your email address, message, and any information you choose to include so we can respond.

Each provider may process data under its own privacy policy, retention period, legal basis, and user controls.

06Android access

Permissions

Files and storage

Docu Reader requires access to files stored in shared device storage to perform its core document-reader and document-management functions. On Android 11 or later, the App may request All files access so it can find and organize supported documents stored across different folders. On earlier Android versions, the App may request the applicable storage permission. You can deny or revoke access in Android settings, but document discovery and management will not work without it.

Notifications

The App may request notification permission to show its own reminders, status messages, or app updates. This permission does not allow the App to read notifications from other apps. You can change this permission in Android settings.

Network access

Internet access supports advertising, attribution, analytics, diagnostics, remote app configuration, and support-related functions.

07Storage lifecycle

Retention, deletion, and security

Document files remain in device storage until you delete them, move them, clear applicable app data, or remove them through another file-management tool. Recent-file history and locally generated document indexes may remain in app storage until cleared or the App is uninstalled.

Support correspondence is retained as reasonably needed to respond and maintain support records. Service-provider data is retained under each provider’s settings and policies. We apply reasonable safeguards appropriate to the App, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

08User controls

Choices, children, and international processing

You can control file and notification permissions in Android settings, reset or limit advertising identifiers through device settings where available, clear app data, delete local files, or uninstall the App. Depending on your location, you may also have legal rights regarding personal data processed by us.

The App is not directed to children below the minimum age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own under their applicable safeguards.

Changes

We may revise this policy when the App, SDKs, legal requirements, or information practices change. The effective date will be updated when a revised version is published.
